Future of Blockbuster stores in doubt again

THE future of Oxfordshire’s Blockbuster stores is uncertain again after an announcement yesterday the company is to go into administration for a second time.

The remaining stores will continue to trade for now while another buyer is sought.

TS Operations Ltd, which trades as Blockbuster in the UK, announced it would be appointing an administrator on behalf of Blockbuster Entertainment Ltd.

The firm took Blockbuster over in March after it went into administration earlier this year. Frank Morton, chief executive of Gordon Brothers Europe, which owns TS Operations Ltd, said: “Despite our best efforts, we regret that we are now forced to make some redundancies and would like to thank any affected employees for their support during the last six months.”

All stores are trading as normal whilst a buyer is sought for the business.

In the event that a buyer cannot be found, some stores may need to close.
