Witney Gazette: A notice about the closure in Witney's Market Square A notice about the closure in Witney's Market Square

WITNEY’S first Christmas market was suspended yesterday, due to the stormy weather.

The stalls in the Market Square were open on Sunday but were taken down as a safety precaution due to the forecast of high winds and heavy rain from mid-afternoon on Monday.

Paul Kennedy, the organiser of the market, said stalls would be set up again today for Christmas Eve shoppers.

He added: “We couldn’t take the risk. Those gazebos fly in 65mph winds.”
