Thames Valley Police arrest 34 suspected paedophiles in national swoop
Updated 11:42am Wednesday 16th July 2014 in News
AN OPERATION targeting suspected paedophiles has led to 34 arrests across the Thames Valley.
The police haven't yet provided details of how many, if any, are in Oxfordshire.
But the force has said that more than 10 children have been safeguarded as a result.
Assistant Chief Constable John Campbell said: "This operation has seen a great deal of work being done, both in the Thames Valley and nationally, as all the Forces involved came together to tackle those who would seek to sexually exploit children.
"As part of the operation, we were provided with intelligence from the National Crime Agency that allowed us to focus our investigations over the past six months, identifying both suspects and victims.
"I hope that this operation sends out a clear message to anyone who seeks to sexually exploit and abuse children and young people using the internet as a medium, that the internet is no longer a faceless void that allows those to prey on the most vulnerable members of our society."
Nationally the operation, which has involved 45 forces, has led to 600 arrests have been made and 400 children safeguarded.
