Eynsham's Dave Messenger had to be satisfied with a second in class finish, despite spinning early on in difficult wet conditions in the Alfa Romeo Owners’ club Classic at Mallory Park in Leicestershire.
Messenger, however, had to retire from the second wet race due to a broken exhaust.
This happened after he had to take high speed evasive action, missing a fellow competitor’s car by inches.
As well as receiving his trophy for his second place on Sunday, Messenger also collected his cup for finishing runner-up in last year’s Owners Club Champions-hip.
