James Harri scored a double as Carterton’s boss Mark Moss marked his first game in charge with a 3-1 win at home to New College Swindon in their Division 1 West opener at Kilkenny Lane.

The hosts went ahead seven minutes into Saturday’s game when Harri tucked away a shot at the near post after good work from Adam Lee and Josh Soloman.

However, three minutes later Carterton were rocked when Joe Hiscock fired past Mike Hedges in the home goal.

Phil Stannard restored Carterton’s lead on 32 minutes when he headed in Dan Chillington’s corner.

Carterton should have increased their lead when Liam Elliot’s pass found Harris, only for his shot to rebound off a post.

On 65 minutes, victory was sealed when Billy Hales broke down the left before his pass allowed Harri to sidefoot home.

Harri was then denied his hat-trick by the New College keeper and late on Solly blasted the ball over the bar from six yards.

Clanfield edged to a 2-1 home success against Fairford Town.

Up against one of the favourites for the title, Clanfield had the better of the early exchanges and took the lead after 18 minutes, when Jordan Cormack flicked home.

The visitors levelled on 55 minutes when Nathan Gambling lashed home an unstoppable shot.

However, Clanfield weren’t to be denied, scoring the winner on 77 minutes. Mark Threlfall beat three defenders before driving home a shot into the bottom corner of the net.

Old Woodstock Town went down to a 2-0 defeat at Malmesbury Victoria, for whom Scott Chilcott (penalty) and Lewis Waldon were on target.
