Danish teenager Nicolas Beer starred on his debut for the Chipping Norton-based Sean Walkinshaw Racing team in the BRDC Formula 4 Championship opener at Silverstone.
Having finished fourth in Saturday’s first race and second in race two on Sunday, the 18-year-old looked poised for a remarkable victory in round three, but contact on the third lap from an errant rival, while Beer was leading, robbed him of a maiden win.
Teammates Jordan Albert and Diego Borrelli, also debuting in F4 with SWR, finished 13th and 14th respectively.
Beer added: “I’m really happy with this result.
“The team did a very good job with the car and our pace was very good.
“It was so difficult to find the grip, it changed a bit from lap to lap with the rain.”
Rounds four, five and six are on May 17-18 at Brands Hatch, while highlights of the three Silverstone races are on ITV4 next Sunday.
