OXFORD United are understood to be closing in on a loan move for Everton full back Jonjoe Kenny.

The 18-year-old, who played for England Under 17s and made seven appearances for Wigan Athletic earlier this season, is reportedly in line for an initial one-month move.

A deal is not yet done, but could go through before Saturday's Emirates FA Cup fourth round tie at home to Blackburn Rovers.

United are in the market for a right back due to ongoing uncertainty surrounding George Baldock's loan.

The 22-year-old is due at the club for the whole season, but MK Dons boss Karl Robinson has hinted it could be cut short.

U's head coach Michael Appleton confirmed earlier this week Kenny was being looked at, although he did say if a move did come off it would not necessarily mean Baldock was on his way out.

He said: “(Kenny)'s certainly someone that we are monitoring.

“We are aware of how delicate the George one is and there are probably at least a dozen players in Jonjoe’s age group that we are monitoring very seriously.

“We’ve done very well as you can see from some of the players we’ve got in that type of age group and he’s one of many we are keeping an eye on.

“Whether opportunities down the line come up to do loan or permanent deals we’ll have to wait and see."
