Young Witney United striker Sam Wright, who is in his third season with the club, has had a call-up for a regional trial for the English Sch-ools FA at Under 18 level.

Wright has played for both the youth team and reserves at Witney this season, scoring eight goals already.

His call-up is a second boost for the club’s youth policy, managed by former Witney Town player Darren Teggart.

Goalkeeper Eddie Dale and midfielder Callum McKinnon have been part of the Oxfordshire Under 18 squad this season.

  • CHRIS Zoldan hit a four-timer as Witney maintained their 100 per cent record in the Allied Counties Youth League with a 4-0 win at Abingdon Town.

The first goal came midway through the first half when Zoldan headed home from Frank Harrison’s free-kick.

Two more goals before the break saw Zoldan complete his hat-trick to give Witney a 3-0 half-time lead.

And Zoldan wasn’t finished as he grabbed his fourth goal in the second half to wrap up a convincing victory.
