ELLIOTT Osborne-Ricketts scored on his debut as North Leigh finally got their first Southern League Division 1 South & West win of the season – at the fifth time of trying – with a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Gosport.

But the Millers could still have been left searching for that first three points, had it not been for keeper Sam Warrell, who made a super stop to deny Owen Elias late on.

Missing Matty Taylor and Josh Dutton-Black through injury and skipper Stuart Hole through suspension, North Leigh dominated from the start and went ahead when Tom Franklin’s free-kick was knocked down for James Organ to squeeze the ball past Borough keeper Ryan Price from an acute angle.

Seven minutes later, North Leigh doubled their lead.

John Mills’s centre found new signing Osborne-Ricketts, who standing with his back to goal eight yards out, backheeled the ball past the startled keeper.

After the break, midfielder George Way beat Warrell from close range to set up a tense final period.

Seven minutes from time, Warrell denied Elias with a super stop as North Leigh held on for that first victory.
