Tom Offord was the winner of the British Heart Foundation (BHF) Half Marathon at Blenheim Palace.

The 30-year-old, from Witney, stormed to victory in 1hr 18mins 35secs to finish almost three minutes clear of Daniel Potter (1.21.22).

Offord, who competes for Banbury Harriers, set a half marathon personal best in the process.

Meanwhile, James Bolton (Woodstock Harriers) had to be content with third place at the Hanney 5.

Bolton won the five-mile road race last year, but his time of 26mins 46secs was still good enough to take the vet 40 honours.

Tegid Jones (Witney Road Runners) and Rob Storey (Eynsham Road Runners) finished eighth and ninth respectively.

Hannah Hale broke another Eynsham ladies’ club record with a 31.11 clocking to finish 42nd overall and fourth lady home.

Clubmate Kate Williamson was the first vet 65 lady home in 36.32, beating all her vet 55 rivals in the process.

Sophie Carter helped Belgrave Harriers’ ladies to 17th place in the English Road Relay Championships at Sutton Park, Birmingham.

Carter, from Woodstock, recorded her first-claim club’s fastest split for the 4.315km course with a time of 15mins 34secs on leg one.
