Great & Little Tew reached the second round of the Davidstow Village Cup with an 86-run win against Horley.

Harry Smith top-scored with 57, while Markus Jeacock made 51 as Tew posted 186-8 from their 40 overs.

Skipper Andy Harris then led the way, taking 4-28 as Horley were restricted to 100-9.

Meanwhile, former Australian Test player Tim Payne blasted 116 off 69 balls on his debut for Banbury in a nine-wicket friendly win at Great & Little Tew on Saturday.

Tew went down to a sixwicket defeat at Slough in the ECB Twenty20 Cup first round on Monday.

They were restricted to 99-7 in their 20 overs, before Slough eased past the target in only 11.2 overs at 105-4.

Shipton-under-Wychwood will play the winners of Thursday’s Challow v Kingston Bagpuize in the second round.

Meanwhile, the funeral service will take place at St Bartholomew’s Church, Ducklington, on Thursday for ex-Witney Swifts stalwart Percy Fisher who died last week, aged 90, following a short illness.

Fisher, who was born in Corn Street, Witney, was a well-known local sportsman, who also played at centre half for Witney Town FC.

He was club president at Witney Swifts for whom he played until he was well into his 60s.

Fisher also competed in athletics and a number of other sports.
