GREAT & Little Tew were brought back down to earth with a bang as they endured a miserable six-wicket defeat at Finchampstead in the Home Counties Premier League.

Andy Harris's side were hoping to build on their victory over Harefield the previous week, which saw them chase down 319, but instead went on to suffer their second defeat of the season in Division 1.

Tew were skittled for just 41 in 23.1 overs by Finchampstead, Jandre Coetzee taking 7-16 in ten overs.

Joe White top-scored with 16 off 57 balls and he was the last man out as the wickets tumbled around him.

Although Matt Woods took two wickets to leave the hosts on 11-2, the writing was on the wall.

Finchampstead lost two more wickets, but comfortably reached 42 in the 12th over, with Dan Lincoln not out on 20.

As a result, Tew dropped a place to sixth in the table.

Shipton-under-Wychwood fell to an eight-wicket defeat to Datchet.

Andrew Hemming top-scored with just 28 off 96 balls as they were all out for 90.

The visitors reached the total in the 14th over.

ON Sunday, Shipton host Oxford Downs in the Oxfordshire final of the Davidstow Village Cup.
