BEN Forrester smashed a superb century for Charlbury got their OCA League campaign under way with a 133-run win at home to Yarnton & Cowley in Division 1 on Saturday.

Forrester top-scored with 108 as Charlbury amassed 302-8, Ajit Shah (52) and Josh Hornsby (51) also in top form.

Ian Johnston then claimed 5-30 as Charlbury held Yarnton to 169-8 in their reply.

Witney Swifts kicked off their Division 2 campaign with a 58-run win at Chipping Norton.

George Seacole, returning to the club from Shipton, top-scored with 52 as Swifts set 159-7.

Alfie Saunders then claimed 4-24 for Swifts as the home side were dismissed for 101.

Marsh Gibbon ran out three-wicket winners at Chadlington.

Dan Townsend (51) and Freddie Magee (45) helped Chadlington to 171-5, but Joe Leonard (41) led Marsh Gibbon’s reply as they reached 172-7 for victory.

In Division 3, Eynsham fell to a three-wicket defeat at Wootton & Boars Hill.

Billy Webb took 6-39 in 11 overs as Eynsham were shot out for 127, before hitting 56 in Wootton’s 131-7.

Hanborough edged out hosts Kilkenny by one wicket thanks to a good all-round display from Will Potter.

Potter took 4-30 as Kilkenny were held to 179-8, Tom Poole top-scoring with 53.

Chris May’s 5-47 kept Kilkenny interested, but Potter’s 46 not out proved decisive as they edged home at 181-9.

Stanton Harcourt thrashed Watlington by nine wickets.

Mark Taylor’s 71 helped Watlington to what appeared a competitive 197-9, but Joel Graham (87no) and Ben Lucas (73no) made light work of the target as Stanton reached 199-1.

In Division 4, Bampton got off to a flying start, crushing Uffington by 114 runs.

Ben King hit 43 in Bampton’s 181 all out, before Ady Brooksbank took 5-25 as Uffington were shot out for only 67 in reply.

In Division 5, Combe made light work of visitors Kennington in a ten-wicket victory.

Kennington, who fielded only eight players, did well to post 150-5 as Graham Rowley hit 77 not out.

But the lack of fielders allowed Combe to cruise home in just 21 overs as Robbie Nicholson hit 85 not out and Mark Westerby 60 not out.

Adam Bennett (5-26) and Jordan Glazier (4-4) helped Hook Norton to a six-wicket win against visitors Ducklington.

Ducklington were all out for 69, allowing Hooky to post a comfortable victory.

In Division 7, Jordan Newman was the star of the show for Stonesfield 2nd as they beat Middleton Cheney 2nd by five wickets.

Newman took 8-38 in Middleton’s 85 all out, Stonesfield easing to 86-5 for victory.

Brothers Ryan and Callum Dadge shone for Swinbrook 2nd as they beat Kidlington 3rd by 94 runs in Division 8 North.

Callum hit 58 in Swinbrook’s 160-8, before Ryan claimed 5-16 in Kidlington’s 66 all out.

Westcott 2nd edged out hosts Charlbury 3rd by one wicket.

Chasing Charlbury’s 181-7, Westcott reached 184-9, thanks largely to Tom Young’s 53.

Meanwhile, George Sandbach smashed a superb 174 not out as Oxford Downs won by 91 runs at home to Langford in the first round of the Pipers Crisps Village Cup.

Thanks to Sandbach, Downs racked racked up 276-5. Langford fell to 185 all out as Rachel Potter took 3-15 and Jonny Meardon 3-27.

They now play Minster Lovell who win their won their first Village Cup tie, beating Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts by seven wickets.
