CARTERTON have asked the Uhlsport Hellenic League for time to recruit a new squad and management team following the postponement of their last four fixtures, writes MATTHEW BRUCE.

The sudden departure of former manager Ben Sadler and at least five first-team players left them unable to fulfil their scheduled Premier Division matches against Tuffley Rovers and Ardley United.

Secretary Nick Truman warned last week the club would also have to postpone Saturday’s visit of Lydney Town and Monday’s trip to Thatcham Town, which proved to be the case, and is likely to incur further fines from the league.

Truman said: “We’re sure to get fined again.

“But we’ve had a discussion with (league CEO) Brian King and we hope he’ll look on the situation in a serious manner.

“It is our intention to fulfil these fixtures at a later date, but we just need a little breathing space while we sort things out.”
