RENAULT will be on the Formula 1 grid next season after finalising a takeover deal of the Enstone-based Lotus team.

The announcement ends months of speculation over the respective futures of both Renault and Lotus.

Renault, who withdrew from the sport as a full works team in 2010, said the takeover had some terms still to be agreed, but hoped for it to be concluded “in the shortest timeframe possible”.
