ENSTONE'S Renault Formula 1 team had a scare when Kevin Magnussen suffered a spectacular crash at the Belgian Grand Prix.
The Danish driver lost control in the high-speed Eau Rouge section at Spa-Francorchamps and the race was briefly stopped so repairs could be made to the barrier.
Although Magnussen was taken to hospital, fortunately he escaped with only a cut to his left ankle.
Fred Vasseur, Renault's team principal, said: “Our first concern today was with Kevin after his big accident in Eau Rouge.
"He was able to leave the car unaided and was taken to the medical centre as a precaution.
"He was responsive throughout but had a cut on his ankle that required some further checks so was taken to hospital in Verviers."
The accident came with both Renault's cars running in the top eight after a strong start.
But after Magnussen retired, teammate Jolyon Palmer was unable to stay in the points and finished 15th.
Next up is the Italian Grand Prix at Monza this weekend, where Magnussen is expected to have recovered sufficiently to take part.
