CHIPPING Norton’s Sean Walkinshaw is excited to sign for Autobacs Racing Team Aguri for the 2017 season.
The 23-year-old has stepped up to the Super GT Championship, having raced in the Blancpain Endurance Cup and Sprint Cup last year.
Walkinshaw will pilot the BMW M6, partnering Shinichi Takagi, who is second on the all-time winners list with 17 victories in the championship.
“I’m obviously very excited to start this new chapter in my career,” said Walkinshaw.
“It’s going to be a massive challenge, but with the fantastic support I’ve been getting from ARTA I’m sure I’m going to be able to adapt very quickly.”
The first round is at Okayama, Japan, on April 8-9.
