CALOR LEAGUE
NORTH Leigh manager Mark Gee knows he is in for a battle when his side tackle Didcot Town in a Division 1 South & West local derby on Boxing Day, writes Matthew Bruce.
It will be the second time the Millers have visited Didcot’s Draycott Engin-eering Loop Meadow Stadium this season after their 2-1 defeat in the FA Cup first qualifying round in September, but Gee is anticipating a different type of showdown this time.
“They’ve had a change in manager and adopted a more positive approach, which seems to have brought about an improvement in their results,” said Gee.
“I don’t think our league positions matter; we know they’re tough opposition just as we would be if the positions were reversed.
“It’s a local derby and there are plenty of players who have played for both teams, so there’s a lot of local interest in this fixture.”
Aaron Woodley returns for North Leigh after recovering from a hamstring injury, but James Organ will miss out due to suspension.
North Leigh (v Didcot Tn, away): from White, Hole, Turk, Gunn, Westlake, Else, Osborne-Ricketts, McDonagh, Bowles, Williams, Walcott, Dobson, Alexis, Caton, Woodley.
