North Leigh got their Calor League Division 1 South & West play-off bid back on track with a classy 3-0 victory at Eynsham Park on Saturday.

A super second-half display secured the success to end their four-match winless run.

The result puts Mark Gee’s side within five points of fifth-placed Tiverton Town, though they have played two more games than the Devon side.

But it was the visitors, with former Oxford United winger Lewis Haldane in their line-up, who started the stronger, Adam McHugh in the North Leigh goal getting his fists to a dangerous cross.

And just before the 20-minute mark he tipped away a close-range shot from Luke Bryan, with skipper Stuart Hole tidying up the loose ball.

At the other end, Yate keeper Conor Cable palmed away a right-foot strike from Conor McDonagh.

But Cable was helpless when Jon Else’s header from Kieran Sanders’ cross rebounded off the bar.

The Millers went ahead early in the second half.

Elliott Osborne-Ricketts pic-ked out McDonagh, who tur-ned and hit a low shot past Cable into the far corner of the net.

It wasn’t long before North Leigh doubled their lead.

Taking a pass in the opposition half, Osborne-Ricketts charged for goal and hit a terrific 20-yard left-foot shot into the far corner.

The Millers sealed victory with the goal of the game.

Sanders charged forward before unleashing a 25-yard shot that dipped and swerved past a stunned Cable.

North Leigh then eased home with little difficulty.

On Saturday, they travel to Cirencester Town.
