Jon Else scored a double as North Leigh thrashed Clevedon Town 6-1 at Eynsham Park in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West on Saturday.

A superb first-half display from the Millers was key to a comprehensive victory which lifted Mark Gee’s team up to ninth in Division 1 South & West.

Despite being without key men Kieran Sanders, Elliott Osborne-Ricketts and Morgan Williams due to suspension, the home side started brightly.

And there was little surprise when they went ahead.

Skipper Stuart Hole flighted a free-kick to the far post where centre back Zak Westlake scored with a superb diving header past Kane Man-nings in the Clevedon goal.

Just before the half-hour mark, the Millers doubled their lead.

A corner was only half-cleared to the edge of the area and Else hammered a left-foot shot that Mannings was unable to hold. As the keeper tried to retrieve it, the ball squirmed over the line.

The Millers made it 3-0 eight minutes before the break.

A clearance upfield found Else, who went around Mann-ings before clipping home.

Two minutes from half-time, the Millers scored No 4.

Conor Ingram was brought down by the luckless Man-nings and Jamie Cook fired in the resulting penalty.

North Leigh continued to dominate, with Hole’s free-kick skimming across the goal.

But slack play saw Adam Buckley claw one back.

The hosts retook control with Aaron Woodley completing their nap hand with a shot from eight yards.

Midfielder Callum McNish capped a fine return from a three-match ban with a similarly clinical close-range finish to seal the Millers’ biggest win of the season.
