North Leigh completed another demolition job on Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West strugglers Bashley on Saturday.

Last time the sides met, the Millers handed the visitors an 11-0 thumping, but this time, North Leigh had to settle for just six goals – with a brace from free-kick expert Stuart Hole.

With a packed defence, the hosts were able able to repel the Millers’ early attacks on a heavy pitch.

But on 15 minutes they were unable to prevent the first goal as Callum McNish squared the ball to Kieran Sanders, who rifled home a low shot from the edge of the box.

Only an acrobatic save from visiting keeper Matt Bulman prevented Bashley’s most dangerous player Jack Hoey equalising with a free-kick.

Just before the break, North Leigh’s Hole fired home a free-kick to double their lead.

Two minutes into the second half, the visitors were 3-0 up as McNish was brought down just outside the box and Hole curled in another free-kick.

Shortly afterwards, Andy Gunn stole into the Bashley six-yard box at a Sanders corner and looped a header over keeper Callum Maher into the far corner of the net.

Bashley kept pushing forward and on 57 minutes won a corner on the left.

The ball was headed out as far as Hoey, who lashed home a volley from 15 yards.

Six minutes later, the Millers made it 5-1 from yet another free-kick.

This time, Michael Hopkins replicated the accuracy of Hole’s earlier efforts by curling a left-foot shot Maher could only watch it go into the top corner of the net.

Aaron Woodley completed the rout after Maher had spilled Hopkins’s cross.
