West Witney’s hopes of retaining the Witney & District FA Premier Division crown appear to have ended, despite a 3-2 home victory against Charlbury, writes ANTHONY BARLOW.

Anything but an unlikely win of more than 17 goals in their final game of the season would result in Carterton Town A – who have a three-point advantage – being crowned Premier Division champions.

Victory over Charlbury extended Witney’s unbeaten run to 14 games, thanks to goals from Kevin Davies, Tony McLemen and Wayne Moscrop.

Craig McCallum scored twice in vain for the visitors.

In Division 1, an Andy Fleet strike was enough to secure the three points for Chadlington in their 1-0 victory away to Hailey Res.

Lee Keyes was in top form as he helped himself to a hat-trick as Carterton Rangers won 3-2 away to Bampton United in their Division 2 encounter.

Their rivals for second place, Kirtlington, won 3-2 at home to Witney Wanderers, thanks to a late own goal.

Daryl John scored twice for the visitors, but it wasn’t enough as goals from Alex Metcalfe and Ross Gray kept the hosts on level terms before their late clincher.

Brize Norton Res were relegated from Division 3after Bourton Rovers Res pulled off an unlikely 3-0 victory at home to Tower Hill to climb out of trouble and dump Brize, who had completed their programme, in the mire.

Two goals from Connor Teague and a third from Jake Oakley were enough to condemn Brize to Division 4 football next season.

Division 4 leaders Tower Hill Res maintained their unbeaten record with an impressive 4-0 victory away to Chadlington Res.

Adam Townsend scored twice, with Andy Jackson and Ashley Overton getting the others.

Eynsham SSC Res went down 5-3 in a thriller at home to Milton Res, despite two goals from John Ayres and a Sam Walters effort.

Dan Hooton led the way for the visitors with a double.

Stephen Pearce, Louis Breaks and Adam Wallington completed their tally
