Witney Mills stayed second in Division 1 despite slipping to a 4-2 defeat against Carterton in the Oxford & District League, sponsored by Yarnton Nurseries.

It was the perfect response by Carterton following last week’s 6-0 mauling by Shiplake.

West Witney went down to a narrow defeat against Division 2 leaders Banbury Chestnuts.

Chipping Norton lost 4-2 at home to Watlington.

A good win for Gordon Hooker’s rink confirmed the result for the home side.

Charlbury lost 5-1 at Bicester in an almost one-sided match, with Jim Stevens winning by a single shot to score a point for the visitors.

In a very close match, Witney Town lost 4-2 to Oxford City & County’s B side in Division 3.

Two rinks were tied, one was won by a single shot and Graham Kerr’s rink’s four shot-victory was enough to give the match points to the home team.

Woodstock’s home victory over Hanborough was suffiecient to keep them in second place in Division 4.

Chadlington beat South Oxford B 4-2, thanks to big wins for Carl Smart and Orren Bennett’s rinks.
