ORBY’S Man showed all the battling qualities that helped him overcome serious illness by completing a remarkable comeback with a gallant victory for Chipping Norton trainer Charlie Longsdon at Towcester.
The gelding did not run until March this year after surviving a bad bout of colic last summer, which saw him have eight feet of his intestines removed.
But Longsdon nursed the seven-year-old back to fitness.
And after showing great promise in fine runs at Kempton and Ludlow, he was back in the winner’s enclosure at the Northamptonshire track.
Aidan Coleman was on board as the 11-8 favourite powered up the hill to beat Brook by six lengths in a handicap chase over an extended three miles.
