MATT Goode has demanded his Chinnor side improve their discipline ahead of tomorrow's game at Bishop’s Stortford.
Chinnor had four players sin-binned in their last National 2 South game at Hartpury College a fortnight ago, and player-coach Goode admits the amount of yellow cards his side are collecting is a concern.
“It’s something we have spoken to the players about, and we will do so again before this weekend’s match,” he said.
“We need to understand what the referees want from us.
“We need to adapt to different styles.
“Referees often mention a couple of things they’ll be looking at before the game, but it may be that we have to change our style during the match.”
Goode himself received three successive yellow cards over the Christmas and New Year period, but pledged to change his own game as a result.
Chinnor are now just three points above the relegation zone, but have a game in hand.
They name an unchanged squad from the one chosen ahead of last week’s postponed match against Ampthill.
Goode will return to the starting XV after ercovering from a calf injury.
Chinnor (v Bishop’s Stortford, away): from Stoop, G Blewitt, Fielding, Barnes, Marston, Millett, Jones, Townsend, Pickett, Tibbatts, Mowbray, Betts, Harrison, Gilbert (capt), Berry, Hirskyj-Douglas, Hastings, Hopwood, Goode, Hall, Kent, Matthews.
Henley Hawks, sitting perilously close to the relegation zone, face a huge task away to National 1 leaders Doncaster Knights.
Last week’s 25-10 defeat at Richmond leaves Hawks just two points clear of safety as they travel to the division’s only professional side.
They are forced into a number of changes this week, three of which come in the forwards.
Ant Brennan takes over as hooker from Liam Dwyer, who limped off last week with an ankle injury.
Jim Hadfield starts at loose head prop in place of Dai Maddocks, while Robbie Stapley, who made a successful debut for England Counties in France last Friday, comes in at No 8 in place of Gus Jones, who drops to the bench after suffering a head injury.
In the backs, James Comben picked up a neck injury at Richmond, so Tom Allen steps up to fly-half and Christoph Bart returns on the wing.
Henley Hawks (v Doncaster Knights, away): Yarnton, Bart, O’Neill, Wells, Andre, Allen, Carter, Hadfield, Brennan, Manning, McNally, Woodward, Long, Newman (capt), Stapley. Reps: Steventon, McLeod, Ashmore, Jones, Nutt.
