OLLIE Stedman would love to experience promotion first hand after being a spectator with Newcastle last year.
The London Welsh No 8 was part of the Falcons squad who won the Championship in 2013, but did not feature in the play-offs.
Stedman started both legs of the Exiles’ semi-final against Leeds and although he misses out tonight, he is relishing being more involved.
“Last year the selection didn’t go my way for the play-offs, but Newcastle did the job,” he said.
“This year I am more involved and it would be good if we could achieve promotion.
“That has been the aim since pre-season.”
Stedman has also experienced disappointment at Welsh, having been loaned out to National 1 side Rosslyn Park in March, but that only increased his motivation.
“It was the kick up the backside I probably needed, so I came back and forced my way back in.
“(Head coach) Justin Burnell does employ a bit of tough love at times, but it works.”
