Witney splashed to a 23-12 win at Buckingham in South West 1 East on Saturday.

The result saw the Oxfordshire side climb to eighth in the table.

The home side scored a try from the first kick-off thro-ugh centre James Hulston.

Within three minutes, Witney were ahead, as fly half Henry Lamb jinked his way over the line, near enough to the posts for him to add the conversion.

Lamb then landed a penalty, after forward pressure, to make it 10-5.

Witney winger James Monks made a number of strong runs into Buckingham territory.

From there, visiting second rower Charlie Bennett cha-rged over from 30 yards for an unconverted try.

Buckingham pegged it back to 15-12 at half-time with a converted try.

The only points of the second half came from a try by Witney No 8 Joe Rowles and a penalty from Lamb.

On Saturday, Witney host Reading in the league.
