WITNEY impressed in beating Swindon 41-12 away from home in South West 1 East.

The west Oxon side took a 24-0 lead inside half-an-hour, thanks to Matt Clarke and Charlie Dyde scores, as well as a penalty try.

Henry Lamb converted all three and kicked a penalty.

Swindon hit back, though, with Richard White and Josh Haynes going over the try line.

But Witney made it 27-12 at the break, thanks to a Lamb penalty.

The hosts could not make their pressure count in the second half.

Instead, Witney wrapped up victory with late tries from Lewis Collins and George Lewis, Lamb converting the first.

In the BB&O Championship, second-placed Chipping Norton resisted a late Harwell challenge to win 33-28 away.

Tries from Lee Lewis and Andy Lee, with a conversion and a penalty from Mike Phillips, gave the hosts a 15-14 half-time lead.

Chippy replied to Andy Blease’s try after the break, before Kev Wood’s score put Harwell 25-19 ahead.

Two converted tries put the visitors in front, but Harwell responded through a Phillips penalty.
